Abby and Lucy

Abby is every bit the classic Labrador Retriever — an energetic free spirit, friendly and playful, and seemingly unaware of just how big and powerful she is. Naturally, I find her incredibly charming. 🙂

Lucy, a six year-old Cocker Spaniel, is a bit more reserved at first than her younger (though larger) sibling, but once she grows comfortable in her surroundings she warms right up and is every bit as playful.

Reflections :: 52 Weeks of Photos

I’m part of a group of pet photographers that post an image or series of images every Friday that reflect on a particular theme as part of a “52 Project” — or a project to take a new photo every week for a year. Each photographer links to one another in a way that allows you to click through and view some great photos of some very cute pets. 🙂 Follow along by clicking the link in each post until you find yourself back where you started — here!

I had lofty goals for this week’s theme, reflection, but as usual life stepped in and stole away all of my free time. Luckily for me I was gifted with some nice sunset light and some very reflective puppy dog eyes!

This week I get to send you along to Stephanie Madeline of Chase and Snap Pet Photography — see her interpretation of this week’s theme by clicking HERE!

Mood :: 52 Weeks of Photos

joy /joi/

Noun:  1. A feeling of great pleasure and happiness.

2. A thing that causes joy.

This week’s assignment for the BBN 52 Project — in which a group of professional pet photographers submit photographic interpretations of a different theme every week — was mood. Since I had some shoots booked for the weekend I decided to let the assignment come to me this week rather than go looking for it, and when I saw the shot below from my session with Franklin the Welsh Corgi I immediately recognized it as the shot I wanted. It was unplanned, just me catching a glimpse of this amazing bond between dog and human, and so evocative of the joy that these two souls share.

Because Frank is super cute and I can’t help but share another photo of him, here’s another shot from our session. If you want to see more, feel free to check out the full blog post with many more photos!

Like every other week, you can see the other group members’ take on this week’s theme by following the links until you end up right back here. This week I’m sending you over to the lovely Melissa of Blue Amrich Studio! Thanks for looking; I’ll see you next week!

Franklin :: Sacramento Pet Photography

Franklin is a Welsh Corgi who must have been born for the camera. Not only has he been featured on this blog before, but he’s also won a modeling competition and will soon be featured in a magazine ad for a line of pet beds! I’m happy to report that the notoriety hasn’t gone to his head, however, and that he’s still the same old Frankie that I’ve come to truly enjoy working with. He and owner Melissa are a ton of fun, and it’s immediately apparent on seeing the two of them together that they share a strong bond. I consider myself lucky to have been a part of their day recently!

Noses :: 52 Weeks of Photos

Hello again! Friday already, can you believe it? Well I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for the weekend. We’ve had some amazing weather here in the Sacramento Valley all week, and I’ve been stuck inside every day with just a few minutes of light left by the time I get home in the evening. I wish I could have been out spending time with Sam instead! My schedule left me scrambling to complete the photo assignment for the BBN 52 Project (“Noses”!), but luckily I got home early enough today to take advantage of the last rays of sunshine and throw this little diptych together. It really was beautiful out!

If you liked this photo, then I’m sure you’re going to love what fellow pet photographer Dana from Dana Cubbage Photography has in store for you over on her blog! 🙂 She does great work, so check it out! Thanks for stopping by!
